'Hard to Beat'
A personal diary of memories and hopefully something to inspire my sons in future years.
This is me. A slightly chubby IT exec in early 2019. The kid i'm holding is Billy, he's about five months old in the photo. I don't know it yet, but next month I'm going to find triathlon. Billy doesn't know it yet, but in the next three years he's going to get two more little brothers.
'Hard to Beat' is my personal motivation mantra. It works for every aspect of my training - "is what I'm doing making me harder to beat?"
When I'm out alone on those cold winter nights training in the rain, I tell myself not everyone will have the motivation to do this and by being here I'm making myself harder to beat. At my ripe old age, with a family and full time job (and the lack of a genetically perfect triathlete's body) I'm never going to be world champion. But, with consistent hard work, I can make myself harder and harder to beat.
(Yes, that is Billy's sick on my jumper!)
